Why do some Israeli companies have English-language names?
This article explains why some Israeli companies have an English-language name in addition to their official Hebrew name.
All Israeli companies are required to have a Hebrew name. In addition, companies may choose to register an English-language name. In accordance with the Companies Law 5759-1999, the English-language name must either be a translation of the Hebrew name or a phonetic transliteration of it.
North Data displays both Hebrew and English registered names under the “Name” heading. Any English-language names come from official sources and are not translated by ourselves.
Since an English-language name is optional, many Israeli companies appear using only their Hebrew name.
