Why do some Israeli companies have English-language names?
This article explains why some Israeli companies have an English-language name in addition to their required Hebrew name.
All Israeli companies are required to have a Hebrew name, in addition they may choose to have an English-language name. In accordance with the Companies Law 5759-1999, the English name must either be a translation of the Hebrew name or a phonetic transliteration.
North Data displays both Hebrew and English registered names under the “Name” heading. Any English-language names come from official sources and are not translated by ourselves.
Please note that as having an English language name is optional, many Israeli companies appear using only their Hebrew language name.
